Translation of a document regarding consular services

In order to be valid in Italy, deeds and documents issued by foreign authorities shall be legalised by the Italian diplomatic-consular Representations abroad. These deeds and documents, except for those drafted on multilingual standard forms provided for by international conventions, shall also be translated into Italian.
Translations shall be stamped “per traduzione conforme” (i.e. declared to be in conformity with the original). In the countries where there are the so-called “officially recognized translators” conformity can be certified by the said translator, whose signature is then legalised by the consular office. In the countries where the legal system does not envisage such translators, the certificate of conformity shall necessarily be issued by the consular office.
In order to proceed with legalisation, the applicant shall schedule an appointment with the consular office go there with the (original) document to be legalised. In order to obtain a certificate attesting that the translation is in conformity with the original, the applicant shall schedule an appointment with the consular office and go there with the original document in the foreign language and the translation.
The above stated deeds and certificates shall be subject to the payment of the fees set out in the Consular Fee Schedule (Tariffa consolare) currently in force
Per poter essere fatti valere in Italia, gli atti e i documenti rilasciati da autorità straniere devono essere legalizzati dalle rappresentanze diplomatico-consolari italiane all’estero. Tali atti e documenti, eccetto quelli redatti su modelli plurilingue previsti da Convenzioni internazionali, devono inoltre essere tradotti in italiano.
Le traduzioni devono recare il timbro “per traduzione conforme”. Nei Paesi dove esiste la figura giuridica del traduttore ufficiale la conformità può essere attestata dal traduttore stesso, la cui firma viene poi legalizzata dall’ufficio consolare.
Nei Paesi nei quali tale figura non è prevista dall’ordinamento locale occorrerà necessariamente fare ricorso alla certificazione di conformità apposta dall’ufficio consolare.
Per procedere alla legalizzazione il richiedente dovrà presentarsi, previo appuntamento, presso l’Ufficio consolare munito dell’atto (in originale) da legalizzare. Al fine di ottenere il certificato di conformità della traduzione il richiedente dovrà presentarsi, previo appuntamento, presso l’Ufficio consolare munito del documento originale in lingua straniera e della traduzione.
Gli atti di cui sopra sono soggetti al pagamento dei diritti di cui alla Tariffa consolare attualmente vigente.
